User-Contributed Transcription seems a little inclined to be croupy or asthmatic, or something of the kind. Her sister Hattie is with her yet. She some expects that both her sister will be there the coming winter: but perhaps she has written all about it. She had a pretty present this morning from the same young lady that embroidered her beautiful night cap - a dear little shirt, just so beautifully worked and worsted. Her sister is so displeased about the name she had chosen, that she has about decided to call it Mary Whiting, for her sister. We have had rather a trying time here since Mallie moved away. They went Saturday and the next Tuesday Mr. Rider and Almeda came to have a cancer taken from his lip. It did not heal so well as was hoped, and indeed, has not wholly healed yet. We feel very anxious lest the tumor should break out again. He will remain here under the care of Dr. McRuen until it heals, unless it refuses to do so at all. It seems better today & the Dr. feels more hopeful about it. It is a dreadful thing.[left-hand side] I want to see him with the hard, fat cheeks which I see in his picture. Do please write soon to your loving sister Lucy. Do you hear from Anna yet?
