User-Contributed Transcription Bangor March 5 54 Lucy March 54 Bangor March 6 - 1854Dear Mother I did intend to write you a long letter, to send by Samuel, but the time has sped away - it is five o'clock and Samuel starts tomorrow morning. I have been unusually hurried (and that is saying a good deal, you know) for a few days, as Samuel bought a whole pig, which gave me some work to do, and as Isabel was going with Samuel, I wanted to get done last week Then Friday Lizzie Thaxter came to spend the day - her husband to tea: besides my usual work & baby - Percie is somewhat troublesome, crying for me nowadays. If I leave the room a moment, he is almost sure to cry; I carry him with me frequently because he will cry if I leave him. He is getting to feed nicely now - that is, he drinks new milk twice a day, and nibbles a crust of bread occasionally. He would eat a good deal if we carried him to the table. Mallie and I are just beginning the "Shepard shirts." She is also working some little slippers for the "Corban." I called at Mrs. Thaxter's with Percie a few days since. She had a fine little boy (William Hooper) two months old - ever so much black hair. She took Chloroform
