User-Contributed Transcription infant baptized - we should have carried ours bit I did not feel well enough. Monday P.M. came Mr. Sewall to stay with us through commencement. Tuesday morning in the boat came his wife, who has been on a three week's visit to Topsham. The commencement exercises were very interesting. I only heard President Hitchcock from Amherst College the last afternoon address the Rhetorical Society? He is very interesting and good. Shows that he is a great man by not using great words! Samuel attended most all the meetings. Old Father Sawyer was here - preached Thursday evening - spoke an hour and twenty-five minutes! Samuel got all tired out - He is ninety-eight years old. Wednes. evening I went with Mr. & Mrs. Sewall & Samuel to the great annual tea party, meeting of the Alumni ( and every body else that is invited) as the Seminary. I staid about an hour, leaving baby with Isabel & got introduced to Rev. Mr. Jones of Minot, Me. who, as I learned, is the author of the little piece of poetry, "How big was Alexander,
