User-Contributed Transcription better remain here or at Easthampton. She seems to be anticipating a good deal of comfort boarding here this winter. I hope she will find it, but fear she will be disappointed, They spent Thanksgiving here. Several other fraternal individuals were invited, besides one maternal person, but they made not their appearance. We have had two or three short, hasty letters from Anna, and last week Mallie has two little sheets, & half another, full. She seems full of care and business. I shall give her a hint on the "grovelling" use of the "muckrake." I imagine she will be as intent on her household cares as ever I was. She seem to delight much in her petit daughter. The reason they did not go to Du Quoin was that Mr. de Witt lost his valise & had not changes of raiment, but I thought within myself that he might have purchased more already made and proceeded on his way. She seems very happy indeed, and I hope she may be so always. Lizzie Thaxter had had two or three attacks of bleeding at the lungs - is now sick at her sister's,
