User-Contributed Transcription Bangor July 27, 1852 Bangor July 27 - 1852Dear Mother Your name as the direction of a letter seems to comprehend all the brothers & sisters too at present - at any rate, I must make it do so this time. I did intend to write a long letter this time and not hurry about it either; "but" - yesterday we washed. This morning while the girls were doing the usual morning's work and a little additional cleaning etc., I made a custard pie for tea, some tart skeletons & a loaf of cup cake - to attend to the baking of the same, broil a steak for dinner, and superintend the operations of my two handmaidens was a good forenoon's work. Then so soon as I had done dinner & laid me down to rest, Samuel came, quite unexpectedly. to give me a ride. That, of course, must be done, - so we went over to his mill, & rode down two miles below it
