User-Contributed Transcription THIS PAGE COMPLETES THE ONE 12 PAGES BACKLucy Sept. 1855could not tell, but they think that she passed the kernel of corn yesterday in a partially digested state, - I think that Dr. Payne's medicine never could have reached the difficulty, but that the cod liver oil gave her strength to eject from her bowels much vile stuff, whereby they were swollen & puffed out hard as a rock & which nothing else had in the least affected. Hattie Ely is ailing & has been several days with dysentery & their sister Mary is quite sick with fever at Binghampton, N. York. It is vexing that they could not find my letters for you, though there was little in them. Can Nettie tell where she got her calico for double dress, so I can tell where to look for it. I never saw either price before, & don't know at what place it was bought - 'tis rather doubtful if it can be matched now I think. We will endeavor to have the [left-hand side and top] as Hattie goes down home every night. I had no idea of writing so much. I imagine you all have your hands full these days. With much love Aff. Lucy.
