User-Contributed Transcription J.M. Metcalf I think I owe you answers to numerous letters. Hulls Laurel you may return Dunen will exchange for other books. Theory of a future life I have not seen. Dunen had it not but told me the price and would send for it wanted. In Dealing's absence Thurston and I got new papers for the John B. and put Capt. Jellison in possession. Dealing come home feeling deeply or highly indignant determined to have Paul go in the School while we were equally determined that the would not go "in even scale etc." at length Dealing offered us $25, to say what we would give or take times1/2 down 1/2 in six months with interested we offered to give or take $425. Dealing sold. so that I had to pay $100, by reason of which I shall not be able to make any payment to you at present. I suppose that six per cent is as much as you can realize from your money if you feel it to be safe I will pay you that and be much obliged beside. The Senator will probably be finished to day. his repairs will amount to about $6,25 so that I send you the a/c of sales I have called the flour exchange for the Senator $5,50 in the trade with Hathorne it was called $5,70 bit to take $5,50 for it 3 ms without interest which was a much as it would be sold for[left-hand side] This spring - sold about 12 doz. - They give us now six or eight per diem.
