User-Contributed Transcription Feb. 22nd.. Eleven o'clock, A.M. Mr. Sammy did come last night, and has gone to Bangor this morning. John said Walter Brown and Eliab passed him on his way home from school last night, he did not ll here. I did soak my feet, drink flax seed tea and sweat vigorously, and last night Samuel brought me some slippery elm bark, but my cold and cough are yet pretty bad. He put out the clothes again this morning and they are flapping their wings in the wind as thought they would fly soon. I have just finished the last of Isaac's shirts. They set well on Samuel & I guess he will like them. I reckon I had better keep a sort of journal for Joseph's pleasure and edification now adays - won't you do so too Josie? Where anything transpires worth telling of, clap it on paper, together with your comments etc. and when a sheet is filled, send it along, good bye for today. 25th Johnny went this morning. I intended to finish this to send by him, but was not well enough to write. 'Tis just as well though as Charles is coming down this week. Pa & Ma Furber are coming down tomorrow, we expect, and as on that account John would have no horse wherewith to transport them to Cedar grove until they got home. I thought - best to wait and sent the meal & spectacles by Charles. I never remember to have had so bad a cold since the time Angella Bennett administered "Poke root snuff!" Headache so bad I could scarcely open my eyes wide for three or four days. Saturday afternoon & Sunday slept most of the time! Samuel and Jane did the work. Jane has been just as good as pie - kept every thing nice as a pin - took great pride in it you know. Yesterday she baked a Turkey, cooked potatoes & onions, and made
