User-Contributed Transcription Bangor Oct. 26 1852 Bangor Oct. 26. 1852Dear Mother We have purchased Almeda's shawl. and as no other opportunity presents itself, we think of sending it by stage tomorrow. It is not so thick and warm as mine - such are hardly to be obtained now - hope she will like the colors. She sent no directions whatever in regard to color or price. With the shawl we send cotton damask for two table cloths, - one from Anne to you, one from me to Albina. I do not know whether they will retain their beauty! after washing or not, but will look nice a long time nicely for table covers. Anne has been down street this morning. saw Eliza Ann Dow in Lavinia Kittredge's new shop at work. Eliab has had an offer - or perhaps not really an offer yet though - of a situation away up Fish river, in or near queen Vic's dominions, to superintend extensive lumbering operations, at $1000, or thereabouts per year. He talks as if he means to go if he can get the chance. I believe he thinks it will undoubtedly pave the way for good and lucrative situations hereafter
