User-Contributed Transcription Bangor June 13, 1853 Bangor June 13 - 1853Dear Mother Your good letter rec'd two or three days since, very gladly. I thought you were going to stay longer at Almeda's while Anna was there. Are you going again before she comes from there? Maria has kindly offered to do your shopping (a great amount!) and Almeda's. She sent her bonnet to be colored & trimmed, and wished a veil procured also. Eliab came home last friday - made no purchases - Maria was dear good while he was gone - came almost every day; sewed some, altering a dress for me, and relieved me almost entirely of the care of baby, and for that matter Mrs. Griffith too - she kept him all the time - fed him with checkerberry, catnip and what not. She understand the matter of taking care of babies admirably I assure you. The little Percie is very good most of the time - has a worrying day once in awhile, as yesterday for instance, but is just as good as babies can be today to pay for it. I have not fed him a bit for a number of days, except occasionally a little elder blows or checkerberry for medicine. The elder flower answer nicely for physic. Mrs. Lee said they were good, so I deem it no harm to use them, although she alone of all the many I have consulted in regard to "sugar rags" agrees with Mrs. Page - O, yes,[left-hand side]I thought you were going to stay at Almeda's with Anna, so as to fix that delaine dress right off. I forgot to give you the pieces - will send them by Jane. & Samuel.
