User-Contributed Transcription Lucy N.F. HampdenMay 4, 1850 Hampden May 4th 1850.Dear Folks allIt is Sat. morn and I ought to be about my baking. Bell is clearing away the table , when I didn't want her to, and Jane picking over beans. Want to send a letter Monday, so I must write this morning.Nice good letters have been received from you all at sundry times lately - Apr. 17th, 24th &c. good folks. Hope you'll "continue the treatment." I want to comer to Milo dreadfully - think I shall a day or two ere long. What good times you all seem to be having there. Mother seems to be very happy about the xxxxxx excellence of her boys. With regard to Isaac's labored explanation, dissertation or whatever on health, I can only say that the amount of action of our "horse stable carpet" made neither of us sick - By the way he would honor it with a more respectable name, I know, if he should see it. it is really very handsome - every body even Mrs. Thaxter says so. I shall certainly pack it up and carry it to Milo when I go, that you may see it! I have taken cold two or three times lately - for two or three days have had lameness in side, shoulder, neck, head, "ague cheek" &c. night before last slept none till two o'clock - kicked, groaned and turned from side to side, then got up. (Samuel made a fire), and slept nicely in the sofa till morning. Better now, but have to keep bundled up. Isaac seems extremely anxious that Mother should obtain some information respecting "Antoinette Dunbarton." I will cheerfully give in such testimony as I am able - It may perhaps be called partly circumstantial, partlywritten up the side: We find lots of May flowers on the hill opposite here.
