Dear Jack,

Jeanette and I are spending several weeks here with Vicki and Joseph, who have become the parents of a lusty boy double underlined: Michael Robert, hooked for life.   This Michael weighed in at 7 pounds 9 ½ ounces, and is at this writing 7 days old.  Joseph teaches at the California State College, L.A., and is a research chemist at the same.  He is our Ben Yochid, an only son, and so we are grandparents, and for the first time.
Phillip Bonosky and I had lunch together about a week ago.  Phil is having trouble getting his work published.   He spoke of your review of his Fern book, which I have not read as yet.  I have read his "Burning Valley" and believe it to be one of the best industrial novels of the 1950's.
Is there something you can do for him?   What about a publisher in the territory covered by the Sage of Moberly?   Phil needs a shot in the arm:  Crown has rejected his manuscript, though Millen did put up a fight for it in his quiet way.
