Dear Jack
I like "The Disinherited" & enjoyed it all the way thru'! I read it fast too. It seems to have a gusto & simplicity that triumphs over the grim facts, because while it's grim it doesn't leave one with that dragged-out feeling. Since I've heard references to the book for quite a while, I imagine it was the sound of the title that kept down eagerness (before this).
Henrietta W. has "World to Win" too, tho' I believe she likes this one better. I feel more at home with her on a second meeting, & she is coming over next Sunday. Maybe with someone called "Red" - from Chicago, I think?
I've had a sprained ankle that has been cramping me for a month. A traveling salesman who is good at drinking stopped in town & I had about 4 cocktails, then tripped on the steps at Ruth Draper. The irritating feature is the types who glance askance to find that anybody ever has a sprained ankle that long. They come right out and ask kindly questions
