Dear Jack-
I am living temporarily
in or on a reclaimed swamp. The development
is called Playland Estates.
Some estates! Rattlers, cottonmouths and
coral[?] snakes gambol on the lawns with
gators and crocks.
My ditch diggin' chore[?]
in E. St. Louis ended abruptly to my
dismay. They don't make or have them
kind down here. I'm on rockin' chair until
the tracks open.
What's new in the
J. Wharton Balch millieu? This is a
cultural desert- not a copy of Graphiti
for hundreds of miles.
Had one of Blakes
please before leaving. This time it was
for an oversize pair of shoes. I sent
them despite it being very thick.
I wrote to the Dr.
at his agents and told him that
O. Premington was doing a film here.
That there was a crying need for arthurs
in this desolate area. Maybe able to
entice him down with a purse[?] lure. Will
let you know what happens.
yrs,
Bud.
