Dear Jack --
I had a letter from Blake from the county jail at Clearwater, Fla. He faces, with [[?]]ing up low to and poise that seems unnatural, 5 to 10 years. There is hardly a chance that he will be released since his record in this state is so bad. It's all very depressing to me. There is nothing I can do for him, except perhaps visit him after his is sentenced. It was all because the police found some tea in his house, sent there by his disgruntled ex-employer.
I've been out to that mother lovin' track every day, being interviewed, finger printed and interviewed again. Finally today the man said, "we'll get in touch with you". what do it mean? when? They open Saturday. I've cleared all the hurdles set in my path and my sponsor is going to be the attorney for the track next year.
Never had so much trouble over a stinkin' joke. Whose ass will I have to kiss next?
Yrs,
B.
Had a petulant note from Whatno[[?]].
