Up here for a 32
day job at Delaware Park. E. St. Louis
was a grim disappointment. Made plans
for work there but they are full. The
Communists must be impossible[?] Although
I find it difficult to follow this time,
it must be [?]
Dr. A sent me
a cryptic card from Gary. Something about
a poker game and a dance.
Ran into Finch
in E. St. L before coming to Wilmington. He
was down due to his old man's illness.
The old man recovered. Finch is working
for Mills [?] [?] in charge of
research in the dry martini dept.
We wind up here
on July 4. I'm going to go up to N.Y
for a couple of days then back to [?], where
I think I have a job, via Chicago. When
do you take your vacation? you going to
Yaddo again. Tell Jimmy I work on a
[?] combine window. Best to Gladys,
