Summary Study by Francisco Belmar, dated Nov. 1, 1891 in Oaxaca de Juárez, on the grammar and vocabulary of the Zapotec, Chinantec, Mixe, and Trique languages, with comparisons to Zoque and Mixtec. Belmar's study, which he prepared for the Ateneo in Madrid in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America, begins with an extensive list of the languages and the districts and towns in which each is spoken.  Each of the sections on the Zapotec, Chinantec, Mixe, and Trique languages includes a brief discussion of its dialects, the alphabet, basic grammar, conjugation of verb tenses, numbers, a vocabulary in some cases, and a word-by-word translation and analysis of the Lord's Prayer in the language. Belmar also includes several comparative studies: of Zapotec and Chinantec, with comparative vocabulary lists; of Mixe and Zoque; and of Trique and Mixtec.
