User-Contributed Transcription Bangor Nov 28th 1842Dear Sister LucyI received your letter this morning, for which I am much obliged - I was very glad to hear the various items of information. I heard that you were at Foxcroft at the Installation; I should think from your account, you had quite a joyful time though rather wet. The boys wrote me a letter, by the delegate form here, I suppose they are enjoying themselves much, and I hope improving well: I think it is a pity that they have not engaged schools before this, I am afraid they will not succeed in getting any: It seems to me that the subject of Isaac's going to College requires prayerful deliberation; -- I feel by now means sure that it is best, though far from being sure that it is not best. --I should like to have heard more particulars about the "home concerns" how you like the stars? Is the bed out? as it is in vain to expect Almeida to do such a thing as write a letter - you should tell all about her welwaved?I suppose Mother's sore eyes are occasioned by her spectacles not fitting, and if she will send them down, I will change them if she can give directions about it so that I can know what to get: Does Isaac want his eight dollars? I can let him have it, I expect, at the middle or end of the term. The term is to be but 21 weeks so that the week's vacation comes a week sooner than I expected, being at the end of this week.
