User-Contributed Transcription against all opposing forces, and as you ought, steadily improve, as a man and a gentleman?-----Sabbath eve. Attended meeting this afternoon in the midst of the pouring rain and heard such a sermon! Thoughts, rich clear, and deep, sparkling and welling up, as from an inexhaustible fountain! the text 'There shall be no might there': How I wish I could convey to you the delight of the mental as well as spiritual feast. He first represented the attractiveness as well as benefits of might, in our present state, its blessings and its teachings, 'unrolling the scroll of immensity' then the glories and excellencies of that higher state, in which there shall be no need of cessation or repose because no weariness of mind or body the spirit, in the vigor of youth, the freshness of morning, in ever delighted activity, exploring the illienitable fields of the universe, without sin, without doubts, without end!My attempts to give the smallest idea of the sermon are cold and tame enough, but what a place will his gifted mind take when disencumbered from the clog of the body! Our dear Joseph I think in the character of his mind, as well as in his eccentricities, bore a resemblance to Mr. Tinker. a shrinking sensitiveness, combined with lofty, firm purpose, and fearless independence and even in little peculiarities I can trace a similarity. Does the thought ever come thrilling up to your mind, that our dear brother is a ministering spirit; perhaps has a mission to this world and to us, maybe, unseen, about our path when we wake and when we sleep? The remembrance of him is full of tender and deep sadness, but not of sorrow. We speak of his death as untimely, but ought we not rather to rejoice and be thankful that he was so early deemed worthy to be employed in angel's work?[up left side]I do hope this will go straight to you, and that I shall hear from you soon. Shall you dare send Lizzie's book to her?
