User-Contributed Transcription I have been meaning to take pen in hand ever since the receipt of yours of 25 ult about a week since: we had a feast too that day - it is so pleasant to have a little packet of letters all at once; for one letter always means to leave one unsatisfied. Lucy is in quite comfortable and happy care? this morning, sitting on the lounge making beech nuts while mother is cutting pasteboards to assist her. Shall I tell you what they are talking about? Oh of our new Sister Marie to be sure. She spent last evening here with Eliab. We like her much - she does not look at all as we expected: they arrived last Sat. Samuel met them at the boat went up to their boarding place with them and staid half an hour and after tea I went over & sat with them awhile. I spent yester afternoon going shopping with them; - they bought a carpet - very pretty, rich shades of green and brown, and contains of embroidered muslin - they purchased some[left side, top and right side]: I should like much to be with you now to gather the early blossoms and watch the budding glories of Spring in that delightful climate. I am glad you can be out in the open air so much and exercise in walking riding? It must not only be a pleasure but chiefly a means of preserving your health. We hope to have had another letter from you today but were disappointed. I feel troubled that Isaac has so much care and labor upon him or rather that he has so little calm leisure. Perhaps it is not his duty to take the charge of so much on the sabbath; fear he does not give himself time to take care of and give rest to his own spirit.
