User-Contributed Transcription in regard to preserving fruit; we have garden raspberries, yellow black & red the bushes are yet young & do not bear very plentifully yet I have made three bowls of raspberry jam & shall make some more. We have an abundance of currants & a goodly quantity of currant jelly I must make. Apples, quinces & grapes will come along considerably later; our trees hang full of apples so full that many have fallen on the ground the peaches were cut off by the few days of extreme cold weather last winter, The children are about as usual. Libby is still afflicted with weak eye her general health is not good she has been our of school a year we are to have a vacation of eight weeks & it is very doubtful which either Hattie or Libby go next term if not I shall spend time with them at home to instruct them which will add somewhat to my cares I am thinking. We have company a sort of uncle of the children's from thirty miles south of us, with his wife & two children Sh has gone out to make a call will be back soon so I will close this that it may be ready for the mail. Do write oftener you do'nt know how much good it does me to get a letter from you. Love to all with wishes that all would write. With much love daughter Anne
