User-Contributed Transcription Elyria Oct 30 1853Dear MotherYour last good letter arrived indue season & I was truly glad of it. I had begunto wonder where you were, whether you had returned& why did not write. It seems then that yourvisit to the old place was not altogether pleasantthat Charles did not go at all - I fear he neverwill now: You did not mention many particulars about Aunt Conant & Hervey, his wife& children & I believe have not mentioned uncleC. at all. I am glad you staid so long with auntEsther wish you would write more of her health, her mind & state generally, & of Joanne Gibson. Why did you not give yourself time in Bostonto go to Mr. Pomroy's? You may never see a morefavorable time, for though you may very probablypass through Boston many times again, it maynot be convenient to stop. I am glad to hear thatCharles has accomplished so much on the househope I shall see all the improvements next summer.Much love to Charles & Albina & to the weeones; - there is no need of my writing particularlyto them too, this time, but when you have gone Iwill endeavor to do my part. I have only one less child tell Albina to care for them she has,
