User-Contributed Transcription Elyria Apr. 7th /54Dear Mother, Yours dated Apr.1st had just come to hand. How strange it seems to read in your letter about the snow! - road all blocked up- and so many feet of snow- I have it is true seen a little snow the past winter but only for a day or two at a time, indeed I can scarcely make it seem to me that there has been any winter, not more than three or four days through the entire winter has the thermometer been as low as zero. This afternoon I have been assess the bridge on the 'point', the opposite bank of the river, and gathered spring beauties and Arbutis the grass is quite green, trees thick with swelling birds, [upside down] Anne April 1854 [up left side]taken [unclear] small sheet so as to finish it right at this evening.[across top]and send you by next mail I have written a month received letters from both Isaac and Nettie words at fold unclear sick caused by a weight from an accident in the kitchen . They mean to come on 1st of May. Isaac not to go to Maine till July or Aug. I am writing Lucy by this mail. Truly your affect daughter Anne.
