User-Contributed Transcription than I could wish--& it is with reluctance I have consentedto the imperative necessity of circumstances. Mrs Hopkinspeople (my home & protectors) are obligated tomove from this house by the first of next month. Theyare not certain of finding any other & may be obligedto board for they can as yet find none - my position tooin the present rate of things is just such as to be moreembarrassing the longer I stay; Emily too, canremain only during this month& it is very desirablefor me to have one friend with me besides thefamily here: - the important day is not fixed thoughthe week is: the last of this month, scarcely threeweeks distant; Oh I cannot realize it - and noneof my near friends present! but so it is judged best.I have written to Eliab to send me a draft for 40 or 50 dollsam going to Cleveland (24 miles) to makesome purchases in a day or two - of silk, dress, gloves, &cThe 'hour' proposed is to see Isaac! only thinkof that! I am delighted enough with it, I feel thatit will be a great relief & comfort to me to have one ofthe family see him now, - besides the great pleasure ofseeing Isaac & Nettie & the dear baby. Dr. De Witt is tenor twelve years my senior, has two little daughters13 & 7 years old. The home to which I am going is a handsomebrick house painted red, well furnished, or splendid piano, rich carpets &c every thing 'comfortable, curtains above want. The grounds attached to hishouse, extend back to the next street, & contains abundanceof choice fruit, grapes by the barrel of rare varieties, peachesquines &c &c all this however would weigh little did notthe person concerned himself to my judgement & feelingI charge you mother not to shew this letter to anybodyyou may tell the news it contains but I have written
