User-Contributed Transcription Dear MotherWe sent a letter and book by W. Sanford last week, buthaving heard nothing from you I don't know as you have received it:I wrote to have Lucy come as soon as she can, she can board to Mr. Cutlersat 7/6 I suppose though the price was not mentioned. The school is just the rightsort for her, and I shall need her help. I have 50 scholars mostly from 10 to 15 years, get along very well so far: Lucy will need for books, Smith's & Colburn's Arithmetic, Lucy's Geography and any atlas, National Reader, Grammarwriting book and National Spelling book. She can trim up that old black &white straw as well as she can to wear to school and I should think her bonnetwould look quite as well trimmed with blue because there is more of it,but I don't know. She had better I guess stop Mr Cutlers first because her thingsmust be left there: - If Eliab comes to bring her he had better stay all night with Isaac.Isaac has sold the butter for 5,00 lacking, 2 cents. shall we send it up or pay it toMr Hatch? I wish you would write very particularly all about your affairsand calculations for I want to know about it. The interest in religion continues, there are more than a hundred young converts and many inquiries, butIsaac is rumored, putting religion far away from him. - thinks he has nottime to attend meetings much.Mrs. W. has not been at all well for a few days; her old girl that she expectedhas come now. Mr W. has sold his cow and wants to buy a good heifer threeyears old or so, when he can turn her out to grass, he would pay money, said he saw a heifer yesterday that he liked for $25 but don't want to buyjust yet, perhaps C. could sell him one of his, for money, and would it not bebetter to sell one cheap. for the sale of money?
