Description Card stock photo of the Dakota Indian chief Cut Nose, who, along with 37 other Dakota Indians, was hanged in Mankato, Minnesota, on December 26, 1862, for taking part in attacks on white settlers and communities in Minnesota in 1862. Printed on mount, "Who in the Massacre of 1862, in Minnesota, murdered 18 Women and Children and 5 Men.", "Entered according to Act of Congress, by J.E. Whitney, in the year 1862 in the Clerk's Office of the U.S. District Court for Minnesota."
