Dear Alice

The Circus arrived today Thank you very much! But I really ought to pay the express, as it was a business venture for me personally, and panned out fairy well (very well, as things go).

(Calder draws a sketch of a mobile with a triangular prism base and wires tipped with balls balancing from it. One ball is labeled white. An arrow points to this diagram.)

do you recognize this little object -- its The smallest one exposed -- similar, somewhat, to that one on the cubical block in the centre of the oval, wood-line room.

(Below this, Calder has sketched out the placement of the mobile in the rooms. There is a square captioned ("and is placed here)  There are eyes drawn looking at the art piece captioned ("On entre, un peu saoeul" and "Et voila") One space is labeled "office". Extending down and to the right of the office may be a mobile hanging.)

If it remains unsold at the end of the show (which is highly probable, I'm afraid) will you please hold it for Mrs. Schutze -- whom I will invite to pick it up
