User-Contributed Transcription [pencilled in top margin} Brill, Ernest8/31/77Dear Jack, Enclosed is a story Id like you to have and read. Sorry Im late in writing (and without a typewriter) but I spent the summer on this story, plus preparing a bibliography (called "The True Mainstream of American Literature" - with your tuff, Tom Kromer, Mendel deSeur, Sterling Brown & others) I plan to put it out big- hopefully in TRA & to high school & college teachers plus some union papers I knock on wood (& Im not afraid of a fractured skull (college did that for me) At any rate - hope you like the story. If you can I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you have on it. Ive shown it around topeople I work with & my TRA friends - so far about 20 people have read it. Also - any place you might know of that would publish it Id appreciate that also.[marginal note with arrow to line "greatly appreciate any suggetions"] Im going to re-write it - mainly polishing & a little editing. Hoping all's well with you,ErnieP.S. I already sent the story to Good Housekeeping but they said they despite dust, and the story does not fit their immediate conception of prose.
