accused me of going off the track in ascribing to Virginia Woolf an influence on Doris Lessing. I did nothing of the sort--I made some comparisons. Several of my friends, whose critical judgment I value, have said intelligent things about my books, & I am pretty well satisfied with that! I am not at all sure that, as you say, any notice is better than none--But don't let me deter you from wanting notices! I liked your review of Farrell's book very much--I'm glad your novel--They Seek a City--is being revised & republished--& most happy that The Disinherited is having a continental sale.
