User-Contributed Transcription pencilled in top margin   Bogan, Jim701 Fisk Ave.M  65270Rolla Friday NightHalf Moon somewhere behind cloudsDon Cherry playing TrumpetDear Jack,   I'm going to buy Doug Wixson a beer for handing you Trees in the Same Forest.  It came by a worthy messenger which is the best introduction.   Thank you for the warm letter and encouragement.   Mrs. ?Frany? at the West End is marvelous traveling for a lady who never made it to the South Side of St. Louis that is.  Doug told me you had lived in Chicago for many years, my birthplace.   I lived there from '45 til '63 with time out for a couple of yers outside St. Louis and again on the far side of the Atlantic.   Anyway I used to frequent 2nd City but it was a couple of generations after the gang of geniuses you mentioned.  I lived in LaGrange and a year at 23rd & Hayne amidst the best Italian Lithuanian Mexican restaurants you could find and me the only Irishman.  Since then Kansas where I was visiting when you came to Rolla and the Ozarks for the last nine years.  There's my geography and greetings to you
