User-Contributed Transcription 10/21/55 Dear May  Just got a note from Helen Nearing, asking us to fwd to you the galley pfs of their new book. I'm mailing the pkg at once, adding some items from our "stock", among them a copy of Carl Marzani's "We Can Be Friends." Don't return anything. The Marzani bk - we recd a free gift of 60 copies w/the request that we distribute them gratis. Could you "place" 2 or 3 more copies? (Free)  I included a copy of the new monthly newspaper "The Southerner", pub in Dalton, Ga., edited by that gifted proletarian poet Don West & sponsored & backed by the Church of God...! We are lvg here Sunday to go to Dalton to look over their setup - the church is strongly pro-union & pro-coop enterprises, & is being ferociously attached by the Vets of Foreign Wars, the local papers &c We'd like to have a hand in a battle like that.  We're sick & tired of wasting our lives in a community that is socially inert & possibly dead. If we cd sell this place, we might move to Dalton - or to N.Y. We can do nothing here worthwhile. Novr 7 Bertie goes to a hospital in "Jax" for the first of 2 operations on her feet - fallen arches &c which if left alone, wd soon make a cripple of her. she hopes to be home (& on crutches) in a week's time. I wish to gawd you didn't live so g.d. far away. This is no way for us folk to spend our lives. We did congregate somewhere & enjoy congenial company.  Our love to you        Fred Blossom
