User-Contributed Transcription tumor and sew her up, declaring that any more surgery wd be "useless cruelty." We moved her to Flagler Hospital in St Augustine [crossed out: & she died there] to have her nearer family & friends. She died there Feb 24. Why didn't one of the other hospitals discover the trouble? When the doctors were insisting that she was getting better, & the State Road Dept was about to take over the sister's home for 4 - laning Highway #1, Bertie & I had to arrange for building a cottage a little to the rear & packing & moving all their belongings. But the sister never saw the cottage. Her 73-yr-old husband (Bertie's cousin) will live there. And now we are tangled up in no less than five cases of friends & neighbors who have turned to us - four in the past few weeks - to help them out in serious difficulties. We simply could not in common decency, refuse to help them, but it has entailed a lot of study & investigating & going here & there. This letter is very disjointed I am afraid, but is the best I can do tonight. We are so involved in these matters that we cannot make any plans ahead, but they are gradually being solved or settled. We recd the newspapers you sent & are holding them for a while in case you need them. Our love & best wishes & sometime we'll be free to go about & see our friends. As ever, Fred Blossom
