User-Contributed Transcription James Blake 52603 - 3d Fl. TMay 6. 54.Dear Lorraine,Thank you, baby, for the loot - helped to clear up some debts I incurred during the Great Expectations.Which have burst_ The publishers have said no to any advance on the incomplete manuscript. Nobody has told me anything, so don't know the why - I thought the deal was hot, so did Nelson - I feel the worst about disappointing Amanda and the Dr., they put in a lot of work on the thing. Plan to bill the thing to a finish for the pocket-books market to get the gold. Art's out, I could never go the distance anyway. Sad. the [kid's?] mediocre. While I think of it, dear little sister - Am writing this in the sun, absolutely blending, summer down here now, and if you have a pair of shades available (sun-glasses, Boxy) sure would be the coolest. But only if it's strainless, kitten.Hope for parole flared with a letter recently - from my former employers at Bayou Sanitarium, St. Pete. Said they need me at the hospital, and they'd be willing to sponsor parole. Very flattering. Another hope for my collection. I got a trunkfull - very fatiguing. The agent is sending the 100 pp's the weary round of publishers. I expect nothing, except to hear it was last heard of East of Suez.Remember Jolly Dr. John Quincy Conroy at Standard Education publishers? I've lost the address, but if you would let him know I lack good books - I'm allowed to receive those which come under publisher's mailing cover. The New Yorker idea is so great of you - I keep always the idea that some day we'll be together, and I can repay. ever, Jim James BlakeBox 221Raiford Fla52603 3d Fl. TP.S.
