User-Contributed Transcription Dear Lorrraine,Thanks ever so much for the welcome loot, babydoll. I'm keeping track of it, and come the day when I'm able to sell the yard of tripe I'm working on, I'll be able to partially repay you-for the kindness I shall have to be ever in your debt. Things rock along here and placid monotony, on e day being like another for the most part-there are minor excitements and sensations, an astounding amount of gossip, and a certain measure of harmless intrigue (like a Ferris Wheel it starts nowhere, goes nowhere, arrives nowhere, but everyone is mildly titillated by the ride). My musical duties have settled down to routine, requiring not too great of an effort, leaving me time and energy to pursue small projects of my own, like a couple of times I'm working on in the hope of peddling them thanks to Mabel Mercer, the New York chartreuse who specializes in singing those Love-Is-A-Pain type of songs. I've finished one tune (though I'm letting it cool for awhile, better to be able to tell if it's anywhere), a very simple waltz (in the confusion that obtains everywhere nowadays, I think it possible that the waltz may come back also it is a form that permits simplicity in lyrics)
