User-Contributed Transcription pencilled in top margin  Blake, JamesMrs. L. Fallon   1922 N. 23d St.   East St. Louis, Ill.June  10. 56.Dear Lorraine,  Twelve days to go, and still I've heard nothing from the agent, so I guess I can write that off as a missout.   It begins to look like the dawn will come up like thunder on the 23d, so if you can spare any bread, I can make good use of it, staying afloat while I try to find something to do in Jacksonville, since I won't have enough to get me up north.  I wrote to Dr. A in New York, asking if he had any information on the Paris Review deal, but no answer from that quarter.  There have been a number of wakeful nights, and I would probably be feeling sorry for myself if I wasn't busier than a fox in a box trying to figure out an angle.  Rather galling, though, to get so hassled up by bread when I was so sure that I'd at last found a direction.  Ah well, it does not yet appear what we shall be.ever, Jimupside down rubber stamp  CENSOREDJames Blake, Box 221  Raiford, Fla  #52603 - J28.
