User-Contributed Transcription 2635 Commonwealth Ave.Jacksonville, Fla.Nov 4, 1951Dear Jacks - The esteemed Ku Klux has been active hereabouts of late - A couple of weeks ago they places a fiery cross and a burning "K" in front of one ofone of the many local whorehouses, this one prettily named "Gay Cove". The imperturbable whores showed no particular alarm and business continued brisk despite the incendiary, somewhat wistful protest. The other day we found two more charred "K's" alongside a highway where we were working. There was also a wooden sign stuck into the ground, with a crudelylettered, rather puzzling message, which said, in effect: "Resolved, that the U.N. flag shall not fly over Old Glory! Tear down all U.N. flags!" Shows progress in a way, from harrassing simple-minded prostitutes to global-mindedness, however muddled. World unrest must be deep indeed if it can penetrate to such a subterranean level. I suggested kicking the whole stupid apparatus into the weeds, and one of the shot-gun guards, properly spooked, cautioned me against disturbing it.  Which would indicate, I guess, that the outfit still has a strong hold down here among the cracker-type characters, who are legion. The state KKK Grand Dragon is a candidate in the forthcoming election for governor. It will be interesting to see  (over)
