May 25, 1971Dear Jack Conroy,During the winter quarter here at Antioch college while studying a course on "Marx and the Aesthetics" we became very interested in proletarian literature of the period between 1929 and 1939. Our search lead us to "A World to Win"--Almost from the beginning of the book we recognized it as an excellent example of good proletarian literature, which could only be written by an author who had experienced suffering with working and unemployed people in a very personal way. We would like to come and talk with you, because much of our work has to do with suffering people. One of us is a 16 year old student involved in politically organizing high schools. The other of us is a 52 year old Political Science college student with a background of 38 years in the labor force beginning as a leather factory worker at the age of 14. Our friendship developed when we were both selected for our political activity by radical women in this area of delegates to a conference with Indo Chinese women held at Toronto, Canada.
