User-Contributed Transcription Initial attack repulsed - base camp
established -  second assault planned
and attempted.  Next fall could be
either retreat to the Missoula job or
my flag on the summit of the Empire
State Bldg.  We'll see!  Anyhow -
Doug & I are going to have a summer
- this summer - in New York if it's humanly possible.
You don't believe it?  I'll bet you
a boat trip around the island.
If we do - you take us.  If we
don't we'll take you!
In defiance of your
head shaking
&
without respect for
your experienced
judgement
of
human fallacy
Carol

It's odd how writing to you helps.  If I'd mailed all the letters
I've written, you'd have to enlarge your mailbox.  I don't want to
talk to Laina & your mailbox provides an innocuous outlet.  Don't
flatter yourself that it's an Eminent Author
I'm writing to.
It's your mailbox.
(I never could quite digest
the fact that you are
a V.I.P.  You're
too real &
not at all
Fiedlerish.)
If you were a
deaf & blind centipede
with a mailbox, I'd
still write.
I do hope
you're feeling
happier & freer.
When will legal
proceedings start
grinding?
Priscilla once said last spring she thought I had the greatest capacity for happiness of anyone
she had ever known.  Somehow tonight I have hope of
recovering it and my sense of humor.  You met me two months too late.
My last letter
just came
back. - Just
as well. Only
news - I'm not
going to a psych.
I got some stuff
from a Dr. but am not using it much.
Please send me your
address.
