Description Correspondence, writings, publications, photographs, etc. of Fred W. Thompson, I.W.W. official and historian, and president of the Charles H. Kerr Company. A radical in his native Canada, Thompson came to the United States in 1922 and joined the I.W.W. He remained an active member for over 65 years. In the 1970s, he joined a Kerr Publishing Company rescue effort. There is considerable correspondence with Wobblies, some addressed to Franklin H. Rosemont, and also photographs of union members.

User-Contributed Transcription Tigard, OregonNovember 8th 1960Fellow Worker Thompson!In regards to Wobbly Folklore, I could perhaps be of some help to You in regards to the song Tie em Up,, now I have sung the song many times in words and music for and to myself and I know the tune and words of the first and part of the second verse, but I am unable to write music and tune in notes, so there is where we neat [sic] assistance, I will write the words of the first verse, as I recall it and the refrain and if we get the first verse and refrain in to music all the other verses and refrain are the same tune. I will write the words down to the best of my memory, and You see if you can correct me, if not, we will stick to my words, then I will try to get a party, that can write music and notes and does play Piano! as I live about 10 (over)
