User-Contributed Transcription Sept 1, 1967Dear Jack:What a good review. Many, many thanks.Your stories about editors scare me. I think I'll send my books directly to the people, without editor or publisher. No publicity, no reviews, just sales.A guy in NY - a Mr. Becker - is interested in buying the movie option for ABOUT US. Nothing final yet. I hear a rumor that Ronald Reagan is going to resign as governor so he can play Poppa in the movie. And Shirley Temple will be Momma. Oy!I'm sending off a chunk of the next book tomorrow. I wonder what the reactions will be. I'll let you know.Incidentally, when was that picture in Robert Cromie's column taken? When you had your bar-mitzva?And what do you do in Moberly? Write? Read? Spit tobacco juice across the street into Mrs. Hasenflu's window-box?Those little inserts you always include are heart-warming. I feel much more at ease knowing that there are spirits concerned with such esoteria. God's in his heaven, all's right with the world. All's right with California, + I doubt the state will ever go left.Jack - greetings, my love + when do you journey to God's country?Chester
