Dear Jack,
The typewriter's upstairs, so I'm scribbling this - so as not to delay telling you how much I appreciated all your suggestions for Dublin, London & Paris.
In Dublin, Moran's was fine - including whopping breakfast as you predicted. I went out to see Jim Powers, who sends his best regards. His wife Betty will soon have a novel out - being published by Farrar, Straus, Giroux.
In London the Glendower was fine, complete with fireplace in the lobby which my son enjoyed greatly. We liked Schmidt, the [[mgr?]], & the people who [[?]] there. I left a copy of Mask of Glory with Tony Mills, the editor at F. Muller, who published my Gorky book in England. It got a huge batch of big reviews - but not much in sales. Theyre not sorry they published it; a consolation.
Mike Weaver & I exchanged letters but couldn't manage to meet. He'll soon be a father, & didn't want to come to London, & Exeter was a bit far for me this time. He sounds O.K. - friendly,
