guilty on account of Caddy's loss of honor because he is a man and because he has incestuous desires for Caddy. Quentin is constantly concerned about stain that causes loss of innocence. He cannot live in a world where time comes along and changes things, changes innocence to guilt and shame. He wants something more permanent, something without time + clocks. The only thing left for him is death — suicide. Here he will find permanence and what was, for what is changes too much for him.
