User-Contributed Transcription respectable accoutrements. The wife you know about (and she's a wonderful person; you really would like her; even considering my poor taste in women I think you would approve of her); to her I've added (perhaps I told you before — but it's worth repeating) a second hand car, a 1939 Buick, which is gradually impoverishing me, eating of my substance, and withering of my marrow. Now I'm waiting to know the result of my petition. Starvation sits at my doorstep, howling interminably. I wouldn't mind if it were only I — but my wife is too young to die.
There is really nothing more to say. Occasionally I dream of writing — but I only dream. Occasionally I read a book — but only
