User-Contributed Transcription look appraisingly at me + ask, "How you feeling, Dean?" I answer, "Pretty fair, considerin'." And no one asks, "Considering what?" For no one's really listening.
So I've got some questions to answer soon, one of them being where I'm going to light + for what purpose for the next few years. I wish I knew the answers, but though you learned me plenty (one of the few that ever learned me anything), you never learned me that. For now, I only know that Amy + I are going to spend a long 4th of July weekend in Vegas + will be spending a month or so in the Fall wandering around the parts of Europe that I most love. After that, the void. Maybe Frisco (where I have a son in Berkeley — who wants to be a writer — and a condo on the East Bay); or Connecticut (where I have a daughter in Ridgefield and a house in Westport); or Detroit (where I have a son + two grandchildren in Grosse Pointe); or Vegas (where most of my gambling friends alight most often); or the Bronx (where most of my academic friends parse their texts). In any case, my kids say I should write something immortal, + maybe I will write something. Plan to try anyway.
