Dear Jack + Gladys:
I finished summer teaching at Hunter (thus the stationary) a few days ago, and aside from reading page proofs for the teacher's manual of The Modern Age, I've done nothing since the term ended save to loafe. It has been great fun, + I think I'm going to do more of it. Wish you were here to loiter on the beach + watch the mermaids with me.
All of the family are well. Sheldon hitch-hiked home from the University of Chicago last June + arrived with hair a yard long + opinions to match. He did condescend to get his hair cut (slightly), and a week or so later he got a job doing computer programming at the social science research center of Columbia University. He's been working quite hard, + he now knows a number of computer languages. He + a friend of his at Chicago have dreams of doing some kind of computer programming on a contract basis — they've already done some programs on private contracts — after they return to the University. It seems rather weird to me — I'm no enterpreneur — but no more weird than Shel's decision (after his early orientation toward science) to major in English.
Matt + Jama are growing like weeds. Matt, at the age of thirteen, is already approaching six
