My son Sheldon (age 20) graduated with an English major in June from the University of Chicago + is working as a bookman for Dell. He seems to enjoy the job fairly well, + I don't mind him doing it for a while until he decides upon some permanent career objective. I hope, however, that the urge to travel — + he gets more than enough traveling in his job — declines a little in the future, or that he'll desire to go to graduate school (which he has no inclination to do at the present time. At any rate I'm grateful that he's got a fairly decent job, for it's not easy for young people (especially those with majors in such useless subjects as English + History) to find a job nowadays. I'm kind of sorry though that he had to cut his hair — despite the fact I'd told him innumerable times that he looked stupid, as well as unkempt, with hair down to his shoulders. He did get to keep his moustache though — a reddish, straggling, untidy thing, + I'm grateful for that (though I wish he'd cut it off because it looks so miserable).
