Dear Jack + Gladys: All is peace-ful here at Sint Maarten — no TV, no radio, no newspapers (save the Sunday N.Y. Times for $3.25), + no problems I can't solve. Amy + I have been reading, eating, + swimming, + I feel myself getting stronger (though not leaner) by the minute. Occasionally in a moment of total euphoria I trot down to the casino + win (or lose) a few dollars, but mostly Amy + I luxuriate in laziness. Wish you were here to lie on the beach — as beautiful as any I've seen — + watch me float on a soft Caribbean Sea.
