Summary Certification of the arms of Juan Ramón de Torres Bermúdez of Cádiz by official chronicler Juan Félix de Rújula, dated Sept. 25, 1788 in Madrid. Torres Bermúdez, whose confirmation of nobility status or "hidalguía" was recently issued by the Alcaldes de la Sala de Hijos-Dalgo in Granada on June 18, 1788, has requested an examination, description, and certification of his family arms, all of which are contained in the ms. prepared by Rújula.  Each of the four main branches of Torres' ancestry has its roots in Galicia--the Torres and Bermúdez lines on his father's side, and the Cobelo and Puga families on his mother's side--and is described separately, with notes on family history and names and exploits of important family members, location of ancestral estates, and description of their respective arms.  Verso of leaf [22] begins a brief genealogy of Torres himself, going back four generations.  Rújula explains the heraldic colors and symbols of the Torres Bermúdez composite arms, and, with his signature, affixes an embossed paper seal.  Below are additional seals and certifications of Sept. 26, 1788, signed by the royal scribes of Madrid, and by Manuel de Pinedo of the Order of Carlos III, former secretary of the king's council and municipal official.
