Summary Reproduction of the 1766 engraving by Paul Revere of the obelisk erected on Boston Common to celebrate the end of the Stamp Act. Each face of the obelisk has portraits and abbreviated names of English "patriots," including Marquis of Rockingham, Queen Charlotte, King George III, and William Pitt. Beneath the images of the obelisk is the dedication, "To every Lover of Liberty, this plate is humbly dedicated, by her true born sons, in Boston New England" and captions corresponding to the four sides of the obelisk, "1. America in distress apprehending the total loss of Liberty, 2. She implores the aid of her Patrons, 3. She endures the Conflict for a short Season 4. And has her liberty restor'd by the Royal hand of George the Third"
