User-Contributed Transcription S. Charles 1st April 1828.Dr Sir,I am somewhat disappointed on my return from Loui.a to learn from Tracy & Wahrendorf that they have heard nothing yet in relation to the balance due from the Govt. to the Mexn. Road Commrs., which you were to get adjusted at Washington and place to the order of T & W for my use -- as those Gentlemen are in advance to me upon that score, and appear to be in want of the money, I am extremely anxious that it may be placed at their disposal as quickly as possible -- Will you have the goodness to advise them as soon as you can conveniently after you receive this, how the matter stands? --I spent the winter quite agreeably with my family in Louisiana, and returned to St. Louis on the 10th of March -- We are waiting here for the Liberator to take us home, she will probably arrive here by the 15th -- I shall be at St. Louis a few days next week -- I hear nothing of our report; why is it not published? it surely ought to be -- Hope you will favour me with a Letter before long.yrs. very trulyG.C.
